Helen L. Eckonen

There are no services or calling hours for Helen L. Eckonen, 95, who died Thursday night at Briarfield at The Ridge Nursing Home in Mineral Ridge. She was born January 17, 1914 in Amboy, OH, a daughter of William and Lillian (Van Gorder) Sanger. She spent her adult life as a homemaker raising her children. She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, and she enjoyed reading and sewing. She married Manuo Eckonen on April 16, 1966 and he preceded her in death July 16, 1993. She is survived by two children; Albert Clemson of Ashtabula; and Audrie Jackson of Girard, Pa.; a son-in-law Cliff White, with whom she made her home prior to her stay in Briarfield; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; June Brady, and Lillian “Daffy” White; a brother Bill Sanger; and a sister Elizabeth Dewey. Arrangements are being handled by the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Trumbull County.
