Helen Vansach, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away at her home early Sunday morning (01-03-2010). She was 98 years old. Mrs. Vansach was born on November 7, 1911 in Sharpsville, PA a daughter Michael and Helen Lucas. Helen married John Vansach on May 18, 1935 and together shared more than fifty-two years of marriage. Helen had attended Sharpsville Schools and had been a homemaker and loving mother throughout of her life. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon, PA, where she had participated in many church functions such as the Chinese Auctions. She had loved flowers, gardening, sewing, and cooking traditional Slovak foods for her family and friends. She is survived by her three sons Michael J. Vansack and his wife Peggy of Tempe, AZ, John G. Vansach and his wife Carole and Joseph Vansach all of Brookfield, OH; six grandchildren Tammy Varga and her husband Steve, April Elwood and her husband Kenny, Patty Hammond and her husband Chris, Michael Vansack and his fiance Mary, Stephen Vansack, and by Vicki Pernell and her husband Bill; thirteen great-grandchildren LouAnn and Bill Pernell, Stephen, Jacob, Andrew, and Nicholas Varga, Alexis and Isabelle Hammond, Ryan and Haley Elwood, and Samantha, Megan, Trevor Vansack; also surviving is her great-great-grandson Jeremy Vansack and her god son Michael J. Ristvey Jr.. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 20, 1987, great-granddaughter Melanie Pernell, her five brothers George, Michael, Andy, Paul, and Bill Lucas, and by her two sisters Anna Borko and Mary Holiday. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening (01-06-2010) from 6-8 PM at the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, where a Panachida Service will begin at 8 PM. A prayer service will be held at 10:30AM at the funeral home on Thursday morning followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery Chapel, with Msgr. Michael Polanichka, Pastor. Burial will be in St. John's C.R. Church Cemetery in Hermitage, PA. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, 725 Cedar Avenue, Sharon, PA 16146.
