Homer E. Wimer, 80 of Howland Township died Friday morning, June 12, 2015, at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born August 5, 1934 in Mercer County, Pa. the son of the late John Hollis and Twila Frances Hannold Wimer. Homer was raised in Colorado, moving to Ohio in 1955 after his service in the U.S.Army during the Korean War, where he served in Korea. He had been a Howland resident for 20 years. Homer retired in 1990 from Delphi Packard Electric, where he worked as a towmotor driver, mainly in plant 10, for over 33 years. He owned Homer's Lock and Key locksmith service for 35 years as well as Homer's Snowplowing. Homer was a member of the Howland American Legion Post and the VFW. He enjoyed playing the POGO slots computer online game and doing word search puzzles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan B. Burns Wimer, whom he married April 27, 1957; one son, John H. (Debbie) Wimer of Howland; two daughters, Bernadette M. (fiance, David Black) Harris of Howland and Donna M. (David) McDougal of Warren; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Vanessa) Harris, Krystyne (Joseph Orr) Harris, Jessica (Stephen) Purfey, Amberlee McDougal, John (Kassidy King) Wimer Jr., Stacey and Lauren Wimer; two great grandchildren, Alexis and Luke Harris and two sisters, Carol Swatzell of Sterling, Colo. and Louise Wimer of Denver. An infant son, Mark Eugene Wimer; one granddaughter, Jamie Wimer; one sister, Doris Bowser and five brothers, John Jr., Roy, Neil, Robert and Donald Wimer have all preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. Pastor Bill Carter will officiate. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta, where military honors will be accorded.
