Howard R. Tieche

Canfield- Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at Canfield United Methodist Church for Howard Tieche who passed away peacefully at his residence in Canfield on July 4th. Mr. Tieche was born September 19, 1917, in Cranesville, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles and Florence Knorrelicker Tieche. He first worked as an independent Salesman for Kennedy Hardware in Cranesville, then worked as Safety Supervisor in Flint, Michigan for the A.C. Spark Plug Company. In 1943 he came to Canfield and started a business with his brothers, he was President and General Manager of Tieche Pies Inc., a wholesale baking company which specialized in restaurant pies and pastries. He remained in this position until his retirement in 1969. For over 50 years he was a member of the Argus Masonic Lodge in Canfield where he was a 33” Mason, and also attended church at Canfield United Methodist Church. Mr. Tieche had once hoped of becoming a Methodist Minister, although he never completed the course, he always enjoyed preaching the word of God to his family. He along with Forest Renkenberger were the original founders of the Canfield Baseball Club, Mr. Tieche also served on Canfield City Council 1950-1952. His wife the former Irene Belott, whom he married November 22, 1943, died October 17, 1979. throughout the many years since, he missed his wife very much and often spoke of her to his family. He is survived by 2 sons, Charles (Bonnie) and Robert (Debra) Tieche all of Canfield. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, Christine (Ron) Lutterbie, Charles Tieche, Howard (Dana) Tieche, Robert (Nicole) Tieche and Katie (Joe) Serensky, 10 great grandchildren, Zachery, Brittany, Jordan, Alexander, Hayden, Alyssa, Joseph, Robert III. Ronnie and Rachel. Affectionately known as “G.P.” by his grandchildren, he was very involved in all of their lives and was so proud to be able to see every one of them become parents. He was also survived by his caregiver Catherine Rainer. He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Maynard and Arnold, and sister Rosine Beil. Family and friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home where Masonic Services will take place at 8 pm. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Canfield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
