Irene K. Waldorf

Irene K. Waldorf, of Columbiana, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Waldorf was born on June 14, 1927 in East Liverpool the daughter of the late William and Kathrine (Zajac) Kokladas and was a 1945 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Waldorf previously worked for Bell Telephone in Pennsylvania and Pella Window in Youngstown before retiring from Bissness Inc. where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. Mrs. Waldorf was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana, where she was a member of the Woman's Guild and volunteered for 14 years in various capacities at the church. She was a 16 year member of the American Legion Auxillary where she was president in 2004. She was also a member of the Noble Grand Rebekah Lodge #743. She enjoyed bowling, playing the piano and enjoyed traveling. Most of all she enjoyed celebrating the holidays with her family. Mrs. Waldorf is survived by her husband of 57 years, John R. Waldorf, whom she married on January 31, 1953; five children Mary Bak of Youngstown, Roseanne Winner of Austintown, John (Annette) Waldorf of Cortland, Susan (Robert) Bachinger of Austintown and Amy (Robert) McEvoy of Strongsville; a sister Mary Ann (Stephen) Marlowe of Murrysville, PA; a sister-in-law Jean Kokladas of Saltsburg, PA; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Waldorf was preceded in death by a son-in-law Earl Winner; three brothers Ernest, Theodore and John Kokladas and a sister Edna Donner. Calling hours for Mrs. Waldorf will take place on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 5 until 8 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio 44515. Services will begin on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 8:45 a.m. with closing prayers to be held in the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Thomas G. Ziegler officiating in St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 Seventh St. Columbiana, Ohio 44408. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mrs. Waldorf's name to St. Jude Catholic Church.
