Irving L. "Bud" Baker, 81 of Weathersfield Township, died Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born September 3, 1931 in Warren, the son of the late Irving L. and Verta Mae Ward Baker. He and his wife, Betty, moved to North Ft. Myers, Fla. in 1994, but returned to the Warren area a few years ago. Bud was the son of a fallen Warren police officer killed in the line of duty, when Bud was 13 months old. He attended Warren G. Harding High School and then entered the Navy, serving for four years during the Korean War. He worked for 32 years at Delphi Packard Electric, retiring in 1987 as a sergeant and surpervisor in security. Bud was a member of the Eagles Aerie, the American Legion and the AMVETS Post all in North Ft. Myers, Fla. and the Warren Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. He was well known for his sense of humor. Bud is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty J. Gregory Baker, whom he married May 10, 1979; two sons, Daniel L. Baker of West Farmington and David I. Baker of Warren; four daughters, Lori (Lee) Roberts of Austintown, Judith Spainhoward of Kent and Brenda (Steven) Williams and Julie ElBayoumy both of Warren; the mother of his children, Jean White of West Farmington; three stepsons, William B. Scott of Cortland, Donald N. Rice of Bristolville and Thomas E. Rice of Mentor; one stepdaughter, Debra S. Scott of Warren; 23 grandchidren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harlan E. "Gene" Baker. There will be no calling hours and a private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren, with Pastor David Robert Black officiating.
