Isabelle Hornickel, 86 Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel for Isabelle Hornickel, 86 of Canfield who died Monday evening at Beeghly Oaks Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boardman. Isabelle was born April 17, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Samuel and Isabella Lewis Peplow and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1945 and was a head cook for Maxwell Restaurant and Dairy for many years. She also worked for her daughter Judy and was a guiding hand with her flower business, the Flower Pot for 12 years, retiring in 1992. Isabelle was instrumental in leading her daughter Sandy into the world of needlework. She loved to sew, do crossword puzzles and listen to country music. Isabelle enjoyed gardening and canned her own vegetables and was known for her wild berry pies. She enjoyed her family and friends and was a devoted mother and wonderful wife. A great joy in Isabelle's life was when her three grandsons were born. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 67 years, Fred C. Hornickel whom she married September 18, 1945; her three daughters, Sandra Mann of Cleveland, Judy Hornickel with whom she made her home, Mary Jane (Allen) Charles of Hubbard; three grandsons, Jeremy, Keith (Amanda) and Brandon Charles; her brother, William Peplow of Struthers;a sister-in-law, Betty Peplow of Youngstown and her beloved dog, Cutie Pie. Besides her parents, Isabelle was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and George "Alfie" Peplow and a sister, Pearl Trumbell. Friends may call on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
