Salem- Ivan “Ike” Snyder passed away peacefully Thursday morning at his residence. Ike was born July 27, 1931 in Austintown the son of Harry and Leota (Seigle) Snyder. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator working out of Local 66, retiring in 1993 after 42 years. He was a member of the Northern Ohio Draft Pony Association; he showed draft ponies for 40 years at the Canfield Fair. Ike was also a member of the Mahoning County Grange and graduated from Fitch High School. Ike is survived by his wife Esther (Manchester) Snyder whom he married June 27, 1953; daughters; Betty Jones of Beloit, Nancy Snyder of Orlando, Florida., Cathy Yochelson of Woodstock, Maryland and Vicky McMaster of Hammondsville, Ohio. He is also survived by a sister Frieda Joseph of Stow, and grandsons; Christopher and Daniel Yochelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Janet Bagnull and Faye Roth. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Arthritis Foundation. There are no services scheduled. Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel handled arrangements.
