HOWLAND TOWNSHIP-Jack “Curly” L. Tanner Sr., 67, of Curtis Ave SE in Warren, passed suddenly Saturday, June 16, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Mahoning Ave. in Champion. Jack was born April 7, 1940 in Warren the son of the late Frank and Helen (Yeagley) Tanner. Jack was a graduate of Jackson Milton High School and was currently a motorcycle mechanic for the last nine years at Yamaha of Warren. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Twin State Auto Racing Club. He had an enthusiasm for motorcycles and enjoyed working on them and going to motorcycle races and was an avid hunter. He was an avid NASCAR and Earnhardt fan and most of all he enjoyed playing with his granddaughter. Jack is survived by his wife of 5 years the former Deneane Shugart, whom he married October 5, 2001; his fathers in law and mothers in law James and Sue (Burton) Hitmar of Avon Park, Fl; and Don and Marilyn Shuttleworth of Southington; his five children Kim (Bob) Wilmoth of Lake Milton; Kellie (Dennis) Ceroli of Newton Falls; Debbie (Scott) Morrison of Plains City, OH; Jack L. Tanner Jr. of North Jackson; and Joe (Diane) Tanner of Salem; three stepsons Keith (Michele) Hawn of Brookfield; Eric (Tia) Hawn of Canton; and Jason Shrodek of Champion; a brother Doyle Tanner of Warren; and nine grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister Karen Ewing. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 from 5 until 8 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel 415 Robbins Ave., Niles, Ohio 44446. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 10AM in the funeral home.
