Jackson Phipps, 77, of Warren, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 19, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness. Born February 21, 1932 in Venango Township, Butler County, PA, he was the son of the late Jackson Monroe and Cora Lila (Eakin) Phipps. Jackson graduated from Clintonville, PA high school in 1950. He retired in 1997 from Heltzel Steel Co./ Helco Co. where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for 45 years and was also a past president of USWA Local 2279. Jackson was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and enjoyed country music. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Edith (Druga) Phipps whom he married Oct. 6, 1951 and with whom he has shared 59 years of marriage. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Louise M. (Bob) Phipps-Cvengros of Warren, and a son, Arthur M. (Marsha) Phipps of Champion, three grandchildren, Abigail, Jackson, and Megan and two great grandsons, Anthony and Trent. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Irene Dunlap. A private family service will be held at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel and entombment will take place that the Pineview Mausoleum.
