Jacob Loren Ward

I've got some good news for you. Jake has gone to the Glory Land to be with Jesus. And the sad news is that he is no longer with us. Jacob Loren Ward, 60, of Warren passed away suddenly Sunday morning, January 11, 2009. Born July 13, 1948 in Newark, OH he was the son of the late Raymond and Beatrice Pauline (Brooks) Ward. A graduate of Lordstown H.S. Jake was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country during the Vietnam War. For his efforts he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with two bars. Jake worked as a local truck driver for Goodwill Industries before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Liberty Bible Church in Vienna and was dedicated and devoted to his church. Jake was very involved in the busing program for the children's ministry, Gospel trak ministry, Reformers Unanimous and the Reformers Unanimous satellite program that Trumbull Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg. He was a Cleveland Browns fan, and enjoyed travel and music, especially singing with the children at church. Most of all Jake enjoyed his family and friends and serving the Lord. He will be dearly missed by his wife Linda (Gearhart) Ward whom he married March 23, 1974. Together they have shared 34 years of marriage. He leaves a brother Robert L. Ward of Newton Falls, a sister Vanessa Lynn Green of Superior, AZ, his step parents Mr. and Mrs. Junior Roberts of Newton Falls as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters Portia Lucille Greer and Betty Ruth Ward. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 6 to 8PM and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the Liberty Bible Church in Vienna. The Rev. Allan McCracken will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, Jan. 20th at 2PM at the church. Burial will be held in the Pineview Memorial Park where full military honors will be observed.
