James Anthony Morabito

AUSTINTOWN-Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11AM Thursday, January 5, 2006 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for James A. Morabito, of Westminster in Austintown, who passed away at 2PM Sunday, January 1, 2006 in Briarfield Manor Nursing Home. James was 84. James was born in Butler, PA on September 29, 1921 and was the son of Peter and Marie Antoinette (Tolatta) Morabito. James retired in 1983 from General Fireproofing where he worked in the factory for 47 years. James was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served in England for 28 months during WWII. James was of the Catholic faith and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 3298, and the American Legion Post 301 in Austintown. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them in all of their sporting events. James is survived by his wife of 59 years the former Carmel A. Amendol, whom he married on November 28, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio; two children, Peter (Karen) Morabito of Austintown, and Patricia (John) Savage of Canfield; a brother Leroy Morabito of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, James “Jim” Morabito of Sunnyvale, CA, Joseph (Shannon) Morabito of Mansfield, Melissa (Gabe) Whorten of Austintown, and Jamie Savage of Canfield; and one great grandson Luke Whorten of Austintown. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister Catherine Zappavinia and two brothers Joseph and Louis Morabito. Family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, where closing prayers will be recited at 10:30 AM Thursday prior in leaving for church. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the IHM Church Building Fund or to Hospice of the Valley. The Family would like to thank the staff of Briarfield Manor Nursing Home for all of their care and concern for the family and for James in his time of need. It was all greatly appreciated. Family entrusted arrangements to the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
