James B Keadle

December 25, 1926 — February 2, 2011

James B. Keadle, 84, of Warren passed away peacefully 7:12 AM Wednesday Feb. 2, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Jim was born in Williamson, WV on Christmas day in 1926 the son of Alonzo and DeNita (Varney) Keadle. He was raised in West Virginia and at age 19 joined the US Navy and served on the US Huntington as a Hospital Apprentice 1ST Class during WW II. He was discharged in 1946 returned home and attended West Virginia University. Jim received a BA degree from Morehead State University in 1950 and his Masters degree in school administration from Westminster University in 1962. He also completed additional course work at Kent State University. Jim had a long and distinguished career as a teacher, coach, and school administrator beginning in 1950 as a teacher and coach at Louisa, KY public schools. From 1952 until 1958 he was a teacher and coach at Jackson High School in Jackson, OH. He came to Warren in 1958 and continued his career as a teacher and coach at Warren G. Harding High School. In 1964 he became Administrative Asst. at Harding and in 1966 became Supervisor of Athletics for Warren City Schools. In 1968 Jim was named Asst. Principal at Harding and in 1970 became Principal at Warren West Jr. high school until retirement in 1982. He served as Asst. Executive Director of the Trumbull County Branch of the American Red Cross from 1985 until April of 1991. Jim directed basketball tournaments for the OHSAA for 20 years and in 1968 was named the Northeast Ohio Athletic Director of the Year. He also was named the Trumbull County Man of the Year by the Trumbull County Coaches Assoc. and was elected to the Warren Sports Hall of Fame in 1991. Jim was a faithful member of the Central Christian Church where he had served as a deacon, chairman of the Elders, chairman of the Trustees, and chairman of the congregation. He also was Elder Emeritus. He was a member of the Warren, Ohio and National Education Associations, the Ohio High School Secondary Principals Assoc., Phi Delta Kappa honorary education Assoc., and was past pres. of the Organization of Administrative and Supervisory Personnel for Warren City Schools. Jim was a member of BPO Elks 295, Clarence Hyde Post of the American Legion, and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Jim was preceded in death by a daughter DeNita “Dee” Keadle and by a step-sister Joan Varney. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Bellamy) whom he married June 12, 1948, daughter Dawn Lynn Corrigan and husband Matthew of Avon Lake, OH, 5 grandchildren; James Blythe, Conner Corrigan, Cameron Corrigan, Callie Corrigan, Catie Corrigan, and 3 great grandchildren Ty James Blythe, Piper Emerson Blythe, and Leah Frances Blythe. He also leaves 2 step-sisters Patricia Hooper of Huntington, WV and Betty Ball of Sterling, VA. Friends will be received at Roberts-Clark Chapel from 5-7 PM Friday Feb. 4, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Central Christian Church. The Rev. Cynthia Klingemier will officiate. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be placed in the Central Christian Church Columbarium. Material contributions may be made to Central Christian Church 2051 East Market St. Warren, OH 44483. The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses that took care of Jim in ICU at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. They are a very loving and caring group of women.
