James Donithan

James Edwin Donithan Lake Milton- Services will be held at 10am on Friday Jan. 17, 2014 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Jim "Big Chew" Donithan, 81, who passed away Monday Jan. 13, 2014, surrounded by his family, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home, Newton Falls. Jim was born Oct. 27, 1932 in Sutton, W. VA to the late Floyd and Jacie (Groves) Donithan. He was proud to be their son, a loving brother and remained a son of the state of West Virginia throughout his life. Jim moved to Lake Milton in 1968. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, past president of Local 411, retiring from New River Electric in 1997. He served as a Milton Township Trustee and was active in the Jackson-Milton Athletic Boosters during the years his children attended J-M. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his great sense of humor. Jim will be remembered with love by his wife Evelyn "Snooks" whom he married Dec. 29, 1952, his children Barb (the late Lloyd) Sapp of Lake Milton, Bev Van Steenberg of Niles, Becki (Dean) Chick of Berlin Center, Jim (Kim) Donithan of Lake Milton, John (Connie) Donithan of Diamond, Jeff (Stacey) Donithan of Berlin Center, and Belinda Bogden of Austintown, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Helen Taylor of Palmyra, N.J., a nephew who was like a brother to him, Jerry Long of Sutton W.V. as well as many nieces and nephews and his beloved boxer Gunner. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Sebert, sisters Freda, Lena, Ruby, Bonnie and Opal and granddaughter Jacie. The family would like to thank the staff of Laurie Ann for the care and compassion he received while he was a resident there and Hospice of the Valley for their support and kindness Family and Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday January 16, 2014 at Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown.
