James F Vinion

There will be a memorial service Wednesday October 18th_at 7:00 pm at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown Chapel for James F. Vinion, 81 of Austintown who died Friday evening at Briarfield Manor. James was born April 30, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank and Anna Margaret Brooks Vinion and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Fitch High School in 1954 and served in the U. S. Marine Reserves. He had worked as a machinist for Commercial Shearing/Commercial Intertech for over 41 years, retiring in 1998. James was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3298. He was a sports fan, especially the Detroit Lions and the New York Yankees. His wife, the former Sandra R. Jackson, whom he married November 20, 1957, died July 27, 2014. He leaves two daughters, Jody (Ken) Lewis, Kelly Vinion; two sons, Mark (Schannynn Barwick) Vinion all of Austintown and James "Tim" Vinion of Youngstown and also Rita Soos and Dan Gayak who was part of their family and whom he thought of as his own children. James leaves his sister, Janice Behnke of Niles; his grandchildren, M. Dylan (Katrina) Vinion, James W. (Ashley Munion) Vinion, Matthew (Ali Schultz) Lewis, Chastity (Shaun) Kish, Kayla Pupio, Joseph Miles, Michael Miles; great-grandchildren, Brayden Vinion, Ayden Vinion and a great-grandson due in November and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff and management at Briarfield Manor for their compassionate care given to James. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512.
