James Higham, Sr., age 74 of Youngstown passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Main Campus. James was born October 5, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to parents Robert and Genevieve Higham. James worked with A & P Grocery Markets and worked in construction as a truck driver. He was an active member in the Teamsters for 54 years, retiring in 2000. James married Mary Kathleen Kemble (Hudack) on November 24, 1996, and together they enjoyed their life serving others through their church, Upper Room Ministries. James was an avid runner and athlete. He ran a total of 22 marathons, which included Boston. He was a godly man who followed a simple philosophy; "If something bothers you, just don't think about it." One of his favorite things was spending time with his cherished "chubby" canine companion, Taco. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, sons; Joseph, Florida, James Jr., Pennsylvania, daughters; Cyndi (Ken) Foust, Salem, Paula (Bob) Dempsey, Vermillion, Stepchildren; Erica (Troy) Goodwin, Michigan, Scott (Tina) Hudack, Girard, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Robert Jr., and Richard Higham, sisters; Margaret Adriano and Jane Takach, grandchildren; Christopher and James Higham, III. A celebration of James' life will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 4:00pm at the Upper Room Ministries, New Road, Austintown, Ohio.
