Berlin Center- Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Jim Brown who died Tuesday evening at the Hospice House. Jim was born January 3, 1919, in Ellsworth the son of Harry and Helen (Donahue) Brown. Jim was the owner operator of Jim Brown & Son Excavating for over 30 years retiring in 1990. Prior to operating his own business Jim was a foreman for DeLauter Coal Company in North Lima. He was a member of Ellsworth Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee for many years. Jim was also a member of Argus Lodge F&AM and the Youngstown Shrine Club. He served on the grounds committee of Camp Stambaugh, Boy Scout Camp where he received the Silver Beaver Award. Jim also served two terms on the Mahoning County Board of Health. One thing Jim will always be remembered for was his generosity and willingness to help those in need. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pearl (Wodianka) Brown whom he married May 8, 1941, daughter Carol Evans of Palm Beach, Fl. And son James R. (Sandie) Brown Jr. of Berlin Center. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold and Gene and his sister Harriett Bowman. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at the funeral home and from 9:30 am until time of services Saturday morning. The families request that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Hospice House or the Youngstown Shrine Club in Jim's name.
