James V Cravalho

April 27, 1933 — January 24, 2012

James V. "Sonny" Cravalho, 78, of Howland Twp. passed away peacefully 9:20 AM Tuesday Jan. 24, 2012 at his daughter's residence in Southington. He was born April 27, 1933 in Plymouth MA the son of James T. and Rose Amelia (Busi) Cravalho. He moved to Connecticut in 1953 then to North Carolina and Ohio in 1954 where he went to work at Copperweld Steel until 1964 when he was hired at Packard Electric in the plant 10 wire mill retiring in 1991. He served in the US Army for three years with the 82ND Airborne Division and received his parachute badge at Ft. Benning, GA in 1950. Sonny was a trade carpenter for 50 years until 2008 and owned and operated several construction and remodeling companies including D & J Construction and C & P Construction. He had attended the Warren Business College and was a member of the Warren Moose, ITAM #30, and was a life member of VFW Post 1090 and the AmVets. He was a member of the FOPA Lodge #12 where he was past president, and was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed boating and was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Judith (Firko) Cravalho in 1991. Sonny will be sadly missed by his former wife Barbara (Sines) Cravalho of Howland, son Donald V. (Karen) of Lordstown, 3 daughters; Sandra (Jimmie) Norris of High Point, NC, Jamie L. Cravalho at home, Lisa (AJ) Kane of Southington, and six grandchildren; James R. Cravalho, Shannon Walker, Crystal (Sam) White, David V. Gregory, Rachelle (Robert) Taylor, Steven (Christine) Cravalho, and thirteen great grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters; Dolly Johnson, Sandy (Alan) Le'Bert, and his twin JoAnn (Jim) Annenberg all of Massachusetts. Funeral services will be 12:00noon Saturday Jan. 28, 2012 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 4-7 PM Friday. The Rev. Bernard Schmalzried will officiate. Entombment will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery mausoleum where the Trumbull County Military Honor Guard will perform military rites. The family suggests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512.
