JOHNS ISLAND- James Willis Murray, 81, of Johns Island, South Carolina and formerly of Nebraska in Niles, Ohio passed away Monday morning in his home. Jim was born on March 16, 1925 in Warren, Ohio and was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Gladys (Means) Murray. Jim retired in 1980 as a tow motor operator after working for 25 years at General Services Administration. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post of Niles, and he enjoyed playing cards, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing. Most of all Jim enjoyed his grandchildren. Jim is survived by seven children Kathy (Scott) Honkonen of Charleston, James (Tina) Murray of Johns Island, Suzanne (John) Litchfield of Mt. Pleasant, Daniel (Barbara) Murray of Johns Island, Michelle (Jeff) Mechling of Niles, Dorothy (Brian) Caraway of Warren, and Thomas Murray of Johns Island; six siblings Millie Grant of Niles, Thomas Murray of North Jackson, Genevieve Milligan of Lordstown, Marian Butcher of Warren, Joseph Murray of Niles, and Bill Murray of Lordstown; twenty-one grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Christine M. Mechling. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 5 until 8 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM Friday, May 5, 2006 in the funeral home.
