Jean M Miller

Brookfield Jean M. Miller, 90, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 26, 2016 at her home. Jean was born on September 15, 1925 in Sharon, PA, a daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Sigler) Miller. She was a 1943 graduate of Sharon High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sharon, PA. She found employment at Westinghouse Electric in Sharon in the Controller's Division for 40 years before she retired. She was a member of the Westinghouse Retires Association, Buhl Club, and AARP. Jean's major interests were golf and bowling; and both were an important part of her life. She was a season ticket holder for Yankee Run Golf Course for many years. In the five years from 1957 through 1961 she was the champion in 1958 and 1961, and runner up in 1957, 1959, and 1960. In her later years, she was the Ladies Champion in 1984 and 1989. Her two holes in one were in 1988 and 1990 at the age of 63 and 65. Jean was always thankful for the friendship of the McMullin family and others from Yankee Run and asked about them each and every day. When she was given a ride by her caregivers, they always had to go past Yankee Run and turn in the parking area before continuing her ride. In bowling, she held high single and high average in the Westinghouse League in 1960. She also held a High Average of 161 in the League in 1961-62. In addition, she won the Doubles Event with Gloria Parcetich in 1987 in the Shenango Valley Women's Bowling Association Tournament. She is survived by many first cousins including her favorite cousin, Jim Sigler who traveled with his wife Joy six hours from Glenville in eastern PA to visit with Jean at least three times each year. After Jim's passing in 1979, Joy has continued to drive from Glenville to visit Jean. She was preceded in death by her many Aunts and Uncles on the Miller and Sigler side, including her favorite Uncle Jake Krumbach, who assisted her in many ways as her health declined until his passing last year. Thanks to Christine Perez and Myrna Sue Wells for their loving care of Jean the last three years of 24/7 comfort care. Funeral services for Jean will be held on Tuesday February 2, 2016 at 11:30AM at Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel in Brookfield. Friends and family may visit from 5-7:00PM on Monday February 1, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood cemetery in Hermitage, PA.
