Jean Marie Whaley

Jean Marie Whaley, age 87 of Diamond, Ohio died at 2:11 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was born on November 3, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Cecil C. and Helen Jones Eckman, Sr. Jean was a Boardman High School graduate. Jean was a homemaker but in her early years she did work as a secretary at Boardman Senior High School She was a past member of the First Federated Church in North Jackson. Jean was also a member of the Salem Square Wheels Square Dance Club. Survivors include her children, David William Whaley of Colorado Springs, CO, Timothy Alan (Mickey) Whaley of Diamond, and Jonathan Lee (Cheryl) Whaley of Hickory, PA; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Irlee Whaley on January 8, 2013, they were united in marriage on January 17, 1948; one grandson, Adam Whaley; and one brother, Cecil Eckman, Jr. Jean will be cremated and there will not be any services or visitation. Memorial contributions may be sent to Easter Seals, 299 Edwards Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44502. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel.
