Jean Shelton Taylor

Jean Shelton Taylor, 83, went home to be with her Lord on Monday evening, January 18, 2016 at Hospice House in Poland, OH. Jean was born on November 2, 1932 in Chatham, VA; a daughter of the late Clarence Burton and Virgie (Addison) Shelton. She was a 1951 graduate of Sparta High School in Sparta, OH. After high school, she married Fred Taylor on June 15, 1952 and shared nearly sixty years of marriage. She was a proud home maker, raising her five children together with her husband. She was a life-long member of Oasis Fellowship Worship Center in Hermitage, PA, Gideons International, and worked at the Salvation Army in Sharon, PA. She played piano and sang in local choirs at several local churches and attended Bible study in Brookfield. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and gardening with her husband. She will be deeply missed by her children, David (Brenda) Taylor of Yorktown, VA, Mark (Diane) Taylor of Hermitage, PA, Philip (Reina) Taylor of Hartford, OH, Kathleen (Burton) Burkholder of Charlottesville, VA, and Kevin (Amy) Taylor of Brookfield, OH; her grandchildren, Jessica (Tom) Fortmuller, Andrew (Stephanie) Taylor, Brian Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Arica Taylor, Alex (Haruka) Taylor, Olivia Burkholder, Lauren Burkholder, John Burkholder, Zachary Taylor, and Joshua Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Lily and Luke Fortmuller; and her brother Philip C. Shelton of Wise, VA. Also, her step-grandson Denny (MJ) Cowger and step-great-granddaughter Eve Cowger. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fred Taylor who passed away on January 12, 2012 and her step-mother Viola Shelton. Family will receive friends on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 2-5:00PM at Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel located at 6923 Warren-Sharon Road Brookfield, OH 44403. Funeral services will begin at 5:00PM on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. James Fleck as officiate. Burial will take place at Hill Crest Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
