Jerome H. Armstrong Sr., 60, of Champion passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 8, 2008 at his home after an extended illness. Born August 1, 1947 in Warren, he was the son of the late Edward and Pearl (Cameron) Armstrong. A lifetime area resident, Jerome was a 1965 graduate of Lakeview High School. He retired from WCI Steel in 2001 after 30 years with the company. Jerome enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working. He also liked to travel, especially to Canada for fishing trips. He will be dearly missed by his wife Joan (Young) Armstrong whom he married August 7, 1965. Together they shared 42 years of marriage and three children, Sandra and her husband Tris Henderson of Champion, Jerome Jr. and his wife Tracy of Burton, and Edward L. and his wife Denise also of Burton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, and Kelly Henderson, Jerome III, Jeff, and Nick Armstrong and Carlina Sweigert, brothers David Armstrong of Champion, Danny Armstrong of Utah and Kevin Armstrong of Florida, and three sisters, Juanita James of Cortland, Kathy Tarr of Vienna, and Pam Armstrong of North Carolina. The Rev. Dr. David Robert Black will conduct a funeral service Sunday evening May 11, 2008 at 7pm at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel where family and friends may visit from 5 to 7pm. A private burial will take place in the Champion Township cemetery.
