Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ for J. Kaylene Yerkey of North Lima who passed away on Sunday evening at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown. Kaylene was born October 7, 1939 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Able) Newland. A retired home healthcare worker, Kaylene was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima and was an avid supporter of the St. Jude’s Children’s Fund. She was also a member of the Rebekkah Lodge. Besides her husband Gerald Yerkey whom she married in September of 1966, Kaylene leaves three children: Wendy Yerkey of Boardman, Alan Yerkey of North Lima, and Dr. John Yerkey of Salem. She also leaves two cousins: Sue Tomalka and Sandra Ferrante as well as nine grandchildren: James and Kayci Sheets, Gerald Yerkey III, Michael, David, Brian, Terry, Jack, and Dominic Yerkey. Kaylene was preceded in death by her parents, a son Gerald Yerkey, Jr. and a brother Jack Newland. Friends and family may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel as well as from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, one hour prior to the services.
