A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for Joan Powers of Canfield who passed away at her home on Friday evening. Joan was born October 28, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Leonard and Ethel (Borwick) Massey. A homemaker, Joan taught school briefly after college. A graduate of Michigan State University, Joan was a Chi Omega Sorority Sister. She was a past President of the Canfield Junior Women’s League and a Board Member of Ballet Western Reserve. Joan was also a member of Christ Church of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Joan leaves four daughters: Ann (Terry) Tabler of Newtown, Conn, Judy (Daniel) Raber of Greenford, Linda (John) Kunze of Brecksville, and Susan (Ron) Rice of Hudson. She also leaves a sister Carol (Terry) Brown of Sun Lakes, AZ. and eleven grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Alden Powers whom she married July 30, 1955. Al was the President and Owner of AFC Co. and Canfield Industrial Park as well as Skuttle Manufacturing in Marietta, OH, who passed away on January 11, 2000. A sister Dolores Healy also preceded her in death.
