Joan Vera Milstead

YOUNGSTOWN- Joan Vera (Barker) Milstead, 85, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. She was born in London, England on December 16, 1930. Joan will be remembered as a loving mother and DEVOTED animal lover. She was a nurse in England during WWII where she met Ray Jr., and came to the U.S. and married in 1952. Ray and Joan resided in Mahoning county for 30 years. Those who really knew Joan were touched by her kind heart. Joan has gone home to be with long time friends and family members that have predeceased her, including her parents and 2 sisters. The Milstead family extends their love to all that loved her, peace be thine. Left to carry on Joan's memory is her loving husband of 64 years, Ray E. Milstead Jr.; her children, Barbara (Ron) Albright, Judy (Tom) Lagese, Mark (Heidi) Milstead, and Carl (Elaine) Milstead; and her grandchildren, Hannah and Matthew Milstead. A committal service will be held on Thursday, December 8 at 12noon at Green Haven Memorial Gardens prior to the inurnment.
