Joann M. Barry

Joann Seidner Barry, age 77, of Austintown died on October 15, 2015 in hospice care at Trumbull Memorial Hospital; she was born in Salem, Ohio on October 26, 1937. Joann leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald Barry, and daughter Michele (Jim) Kisthardt, who recently moved from Hudson, Ohio, to Pittsboro, North Carolina. She will be missed dearly by grandchildren, Laura, Matthew, and Jackie Kisthardt; and a sister, Betty Seidner of Cary, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Eska Rose Seidner. Joann was a 1955 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was active in alumni activities. She was an avid supporter of the Youngstown Playhouse, Victorian Theater, and other local theater groups. Through Goodwill Industries, she recorded programs for the blind and was a former member of the Ohio Cultural Alliance. She enjoyed spending time at the Boardman YMCA. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and made hundreds of afghans and was thrilled in giving them away. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield. She worked at West Side Merchants for many years and later retired from Snyder Bentley Company. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield on October 20, 2015 at 11 AM, where Father Terry Hazel will celebrate Joann's life. Family and friends at the church one hour, 10-11 AM, before the Mass. Internment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Goodwill Industries for radio reading for the blind, 2747 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44505. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel.
