John A. Gerlach of 857 Wahabe Court, Masury, Ohio, died at 1:10 AM Tuesday (10-9-2007) in the Sharon Regional Health Care System following a brief illness. He was 47.
Mr. Gerlach was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania on June 7, 1960, a son of George D. and Barbara M. (Striely) Gerlach, Sr.
Following High School, John went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army.
John was employed for the last nine years as a Truck Driver with P.I. & I. Trucking, Masury.
He was a member of VFW Post #1338, Sharon; and the Teamsters Local #92, Canton, OH. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains, and traveling.
Survivors include: his former wife, Deborah Gerlach, Masury; his step-mother, Stella Gerlach, Hermitage, PA; his step-daughter, Marcie K. Ryhal, Conneaut Lake, PA; his siblings, Janice Terna, Tampa, FL, Betty Shoup, Brookfield, OH, Cynthia Bandzak, Davidson, NC, Kitty Piccirilli, Hermitage, PA, Patti Yingling, Sharon, PA, Barbie McCracken, Crosby, TX, and Jack Gerlach, West Middlesex, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, George Gerlach.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. A private service and burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the choice of the donor.
