John A. Slocum, Sr.

Mineral Ridge- Memorial services will be held 2 PM Sat. at Ohltown United Methodist Church for John A. Slocum, Sr. age 65 of 1250 Main St. who died Sunday afternoon at his home. John was born September 23, 1939 in Norwalk, OH and was the son of Frank and Mary (Finch) Slocum. He had been a truck driver but had been retired on disability for a number of years. He was an avid reader, loved taking care of his grandson and working on cars. John is survived by his wife, the former Eleanor Tarrant whom he married Oct. 8, 1960. He also leaves five children, Fred Slocum of Mineral Ridge, Bernice Bottomlee of Fitchville, OH, Mark Slocum of Norwalk, OH, John (Beth) Slocum, Jr. serving in the U.S. Navy in Bremerton, Washington, Shawn (Jim) Dowdy of Austintown, a sister Eva Rose Wilber of New London, OH, two brothers Delbert Slocum of Berlin Hgts., OH, Frank Slocum of Norwalk, OH and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Clara and Ella Mae Slocum and a brother Fred Slocum. The family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
