John Allan Dinger

GIRARD- John Allan Dinger, 71, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown on July 13, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born on December 20, 1944 in Albuquerque, NM, son to the late Paul and Betty (Swineford) Dinger John was a 1963 graduate from Hubbard High School and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. He worked for 37 years with GM as the superintendent of labor relations. He retired in 2001, the same year he married Ruth Green, his loving wife of 15 years. After his retirement, John enjoyed driving the school bus for Girard schools. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and lit up whenever they were around. John also enjoyed spending time on the beaches and fairways of Hilton Head. He will also be remembered as a Corvette enthusiast, spending time going for drives in his '78 anniversary model. Left to celebrate John's life is his wife, Ruth Green; son, John Allan (Amy) Dinger II, and their children Brooke and John "Jake" Allan III; daughter, Melissa (Chad) Means and their children Courtney and Dylan; and stepsons, Thomas Evan (Manju Gupta) Green, and Andrew David (Jessica) Green. He also is survived by his sister, DawnRae (Paul) Kulow; niece Michelle (Terry) Roberts and their daughter Jamison; and niece Nicole (Tom) Vesy and their children Victoria and Thomas. The family will receive friends from 2PM-4PM on Saturday, July 16 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Niles-Canfield Rd. A memorial service will follow calling hours at 4PM In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to the Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 66, Vienna, OH. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at the oncology department at Cleveland Clinic and the medical ICU at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
