John Boos Jr.

Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday January 22, 2011 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, for John "Jack" Francis Boos Jr., 87 of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Austintown, who passed away Monday January 10, 2011 in Charlotte Regional Medical Center. Jack was born April 3, 1923 in Youngstown the son of the late John F. and Alice (Waldo) Boos Sr. He retired in 1988, as the General Manager with Jenkins Sign Company after 38 years of service. He was a former member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association, the Youngstown Maennechor Club, and formerly on the Board of Directors of the Westside Merchants and Civic Association. Jack was a member of the Punta Gorda Civic Association, Elks Lodge 2606 in Punta Gorda and volunteered at the Charlotte Regional Medical Center for 8 years. He leaves his loving and devoted wife the former Betty Lou Simmons, whom he married March 4, 1983. Jack also leaves 9 children; Jack Boos of Hubbard, Margo (John) Berezo of West Middlesex, PA, Kathy (Bob) Kurta of Stow, David (Rhonda) Boos of Hubbard, Barbara Andrews of Solon, Jane (Rodney) Osaki of Mililani, Hawaii, Ruthanne Salreno of Austintown, Terri (Thomas) Crogan of Canfield, and an "adopted son" and beloved and devoted caregiver Tyrone Brantley of Ft. Myers, FL; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous step children, step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild. Jack is preceded in death by his late wife, the former Ruth C. Repasky, whom he married in 1966. She passed away in 1982. Besides Ruth, Jack is preceded in death by 2 sons; Dennis and Robert "Luke" Boos, 1 daughter, Mary Kay Anthonsen, and 1 sister Alice Ann Holt. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Jack's name. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
