John E. Turner

John E. Turner, 93 of Vienna died on Saturday morning, November 5, 2016, at his daughter's home in Vienna. He was born June 14, 1923 in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania the son of the late Clyde and Eva Robson Turner. John served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for GATX in Masury for several years and then worked for Carnation Dairy in San Diego, Calif. for many years as a home delivery milkman. John had attended Grace Baptist Church in Girard. He loved farming, having grown up on a farm in Sandy Lake, Pa., loved gardening and was an avid woodworker. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His wife of over 50 years, Olive June Slater Turner, whom he married November 19, 1943 preceded him in death January 12, 1994. One son, Clyde C. Turner, two brothers, Charles and Clair Turner and one sister, Katherine Clyde also have all preceded him in death. John is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Shaffer with whom he made his home in Vienna; three sons, Rev. James H. (Marsha) Turner of Ft. Worth, Texas, John E. (Tracy) Turner Jr. of Wilson, NC and Kevin K. (Cathy) Turner of Fowler; twelve grandchildren, Shelley Turner, Adrienne (Brian) Crites, Hope (Jamie) Metevier, Jamie (Alan) Gaddy, Erin (Christopher) Osborne, Rachael (Joel) Osborne, Ian Shaffer, Tiffany (David) Primm, Matthew (Katie) Turner, Josh Turner, Kori (Joshua) Goodhart and Drew (Cory) Turner and twenty three great grandchildren. A private family gathering will be held Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield. Entombment will be at Crown Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Vienna.
