John E. Yohman

AUSTINTOWN- John E. Yohman, 84, passed away April 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He was born December 14, 1929 in Youngstown, OH to the late John and Mary Yohman. John graduated from Chaney High School in 1947. He went on to serve as an U.S. Army Sergeant for 21 months in the Korean War. After his service John graduated from the Coyne Electrical Televison Radio School in Chicago, IL and went on to work for 35 years as an electrical foreman with GF Business Equipment. John was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed bowling at Wedgewood Lanes and he was in several golf leagues. John also played bocce in the Saxon Club League. John was a member of the St. George Croation Club and the Korean War Veteran Association and he was a Sergeant at Arms for the Penn Ohio Polka Pals Booster Club. John loved Polka music and enjoyed going to the dances. He also loved woodworking and could fix anything. John was a devoted and very loved husband, father, and grandfather, who loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports or just loved being around them because they gave him such a sense of pride and joy. John leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Mary Jean Yohman, whom he married May 25th 1957 at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Warren, OH. He also leaves his son, Rick (Lisa) Yohman; daughter, Lori (Dr. John) Meisburger; son, John (Jackie) Yohman; son, Tim (Dr. Hillary Wells) Yohman; sister, Ruth Majovsky of Henderson, NV; and sister-in-law, Judy Yohman. The family also includes 12 grandchildren, Katelyn, Jared, Lauren, and Emily Yohman, Carly, Sara, and Haley Meisburger, Matthew Jennifer and Jeffrey Yohman, Marlon and Elyse Yohman, and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dick Yohman, brother-in-law, Mike Majovsky, and infant son, Ronald Joseph Yohman. The family will receive friends from 4PM-8PM on Wednesday April 30 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM at the funeral home and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church on Thursday, May 1, at 10AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
