John Fierst of 1720 Ardleigh Rd., Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield, Ohio for 37 years, died Friday (3-24-2006) in the Traditions @ Millrun, Columbus after an extended illness. He was 90. Mr. Fierst was born in Sharpsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 14, 1915, a son of Clarence and Clara (Braun) Fierst. After high school, John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Lieutenant. John retired from Sharon Steel Co. after 44 years working his way up to the title of Vice President of Sales. Survivors include: 5 children, Sue A. Kostur, Melrose, Mass, John T. Fierst, Lansing, Mich, Michael C. Fierst, Columbus, Ohio, Lisa J. Turco, Springfield, VA, and Thomas J. Fierst, St. Paul, Minn; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife of 56 years, Maureen (O’Donovan) Fierst, she died April 7, 2002; and by his daughter, Maura Fierst. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
