John G. Brooker

There will be Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bristolville Church of the Brethren for John G. Brooker, 90, who died Monday evening at Washington Square Healthcare. John was born May 14, 1926 in Bristolville, a son of Elmer and Lena Pfeiffer Brooker John was employed in the Security Dept. of Packard Electric for 34 years, retiring in 1987. He was previously employed by Mullins Manufacturing Co. for 8 years. John served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WW ll. While serving in the Army, John received his High School diploma from Ball High School in Galveston, TX. John was a member of Southington Christian Church. He was also a member of Old Erie Masonic Lodge No. 507 F & A.M. John was an avid gardener. John is survived by his wife, the former Janet Overly, whom he married April 8, 1995; his sons, John R. Brooker of Fairfield, CA, Donald E. Brooker of Westerville and Douglas H. (Lisa) of Charlotte, N.C.; his stepchildren, Allen (Marlona) Hurst of Alliance, Gordon (Nancy Jameson) Hurst of Warren, Gary (Debbie Short) Hurst of Denton, N.C., Pamela (Daniel) Yoder of Johnson, Brenda (Donald) Libbey of Randolf, Kimberly (Adrian) Fauvie of Southington, Martin (Joyce) Hurst of W. Southington, Michael (Donna) Hurst of Akron and Melissa (John) Beukeman of Orwell; his grandchildren, Ashton, Alexandra and Julie Brooker and 33 step-grand and gr. grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Brooker and his sisters, Alice Brooker and Agnes Hodge. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the Service at the Church. Memorial contributions may be given to Crossroads Hospice, 8224 Mentor Rd., Suite, 110, Mentor, OH 44060. Arrangements are by the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Mineral Ridge Chapel.
