AKRON: John J. Johnson, age 53, of Akron passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 11, 2013. Born October 30, 1959 in Fort Meade, MD., John was the son of Carole (Kowell) and Les Johnson. John lived most of his life in Akron and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1978. He was a great lover of music and movies and had quite a collection. John had a great love for family as well as his friends from St. Catherine's and St. James' Parish. He loved landscaping and meticulously decorated the numerous Christmas trees and Christmas display for all to enjoy. His greatest joy came from making others happy, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents, survivors include his brother Daniel (Jodi) Johnson; sisters: Julie (Mark) Marcum, Jeanne (Jimmy) Garner, Judie Johnson, and Debi (Larry) Dye; nephews and nieces: Ashley and Jason Johnson, Tom and Steven Marcum, Joe (Danielle) and Victoria Lambert, Mitchell Johnson, and Kaylee and Braden Dye; close family friend and care taker Fr. David Merzweiler. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Della and Merle Martell, maternal grandparents Howard and Cleo Kowell, paternal grandparents Gene and Grace Spoerndle, and Ira Johnson. John gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 4:00PM at St. Catherine's in Lake Milton where friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.
