John J. Stratakis, 73 of Warren, died Thursday afternoon, May 12, 2016, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. He was born May 10, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the son of the late John and Mary Apostobini Stratakis. John was a 1961 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He retired after 20 years service from Republic Steel Corp, where he worked as a millwright. John enjoyed riding his motorcycle and shooting pool with his friends. He had played on several area billiard leagues for 25 years. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. Helping others was never a burden to John; he will be missed by his family and friends and each of those grandchildren who held such a special place in his heart. John is survived by his wife, Mary M. Rumbarger Stratakis, whom he married January 1, 1991; one son, Chris (Heather) Stratakis of Cortland; two stepsons, Bill (Tammy) Goterba and Frank (Ashley) Rumbarger both of Warren; one stepdaughter, Rebecca (Michael) Tibbs of Warren; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a nephew, Michael Tibbs. Besides by his parents, John was preceded in death by one son, Paul Stratakis; three sisters, Anna, Erma and Peppi and one brother, George. Per John's wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. There will be a private family celebration of his life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
