John Magdych

May 26, 1925 — August 10, 2010

John "Jack" Magdych Jr., Age 85, of Greene Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on May 26, 1925 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late John Magdych Sr. and the late Mary Holavetski Magdych. In 1951, Jack attended the Bible School of Gilead in New York, where he met his future wife, Edna Rueb with whom he served as a missionary in Brazil for 6 years. He and Edna were married on September 17, 1955 in Rio de Janeiro, moving back to Ohio in 1957 where he worked as a self-employed "jack of- all trades". Since then, they have been associated with the Greene Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jack was a man who had a giving spirit, a sense of humor and the ability to talk with anyone, his favorite subject being the Bible. He is survived by his wife, Edna Rueb Magdych; one son, Douglas Magdych of Rogers, AR, five daughters, Deborah Kingsley of Cambridge Springs, PA, Charlene Conner of Williamsfield, OH, Autumn Pastor of Greene, Valerie Bishop of Great Falls, VA and Julianne Hindes of Columbus, OH and one sister, Helen Norton of Sequim, WA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 14, 2010, from 2:30 PM 4:00 PM at the Tod Heights Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3555 Tod Av. NW, Warren, OH, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM. Memorial tributes may be made to the Greene Ohio Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2251 York St, Farmdale, OH 44417, or Grace Hospice of Ohio, 7330 Southern Blvd., Suite 3, Youngstown, OH 44512 Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland.
