John P. Markovich

John P. Markovich, "Markie", age 85 of Austintown, Ohio, died at 1:31 AM on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Omni Manor Rehabilitation. He was born on July 27, 1930 in Youngstown, the son of the late John and Rose Markovich. John was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Austintown. Markie retired as a millwright from Republic Steel/LTV in 1986. He then went to work for nine years at Polaris Technologies in Boardman. He loved to travel with his late wife, Steffie, and go to casinos. John was survived by his children, Frances (Rusty) Miles of Austintown, Steve (Luba) Medved of Austintown, George (Diane) Medved of New York City, NY, and John Medved of Austintown; four grandchildren, Stephanie Miles, Dana (John McDougal) Miles, Steven Medved, and Jason Medved, and several great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Peggy) Markovich of Youngstown. Other than his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Steffie Barbara Boticki on November 15, 2010, they were united in marriage on January 31, 1957; and three brothers, Daniel, George, and Matthew Chopp. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, Ohio 44515, where Father Ken Miller will celebrate John's life. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Generations of Giving for Immaculate Heart of Mary in John's memory. The family wishes to thank the Omni Manor Rehabilitation Staff for the exceptional care given to John. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel.
