Leavittsburg - John T. Fike Sr., 58, passed away Thursday evening, May 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Warren, OH, after a short battle of cancer. John was born on August 18, 1957 in Warren, OH, a son of the late Warren G. Fike and Isa L. (Smitley) Fike. He was employed as a truck driver for 30 years until he retired. He attended the Leavittsburg First Church of God. He was an avid car lover and loved going to car shows. He built and collected model cars and would receive a new one every year for Christmas. John was a big family man. He loved spending time with his family and vacationing with them in Myrtle Beach. He was very involved in his children's activities; including coaching baseball, softball, and soccer. He was passionate about spending time with his granddaughter Emmalin. John will be deeply missed by his children, John T. (Laura) Fike Jr. of Champion, OH and Kenra L. Fike of Farmdale, OH; his five sisters, Patti (Philip) Fike-Suraci of Canada, Ruth (Fike) Horner of Niles, OH, Betty (Charles) Fike-Jaros of Leavittsburg, OH, Sheryl (Gary) Fike-Braun of Leavittsburg, OH, and Leta (Greg) Fike-Garland of Louisiana; his two brothers, Donald (Kathy) Fike of Georgia and Jack Fike of Florida. He will also be missed by his former wife, Robin L. Fike, whom he shared 20 years of marriage; his brother-in-law Randy Jones; 17 nieces and nephews; and 34 great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Paula Kay Fike-Jones; and his mother and father in law, Marjorie and Russell Thornton. Funeral services for John will be held at Wildare United Methodist Church located at Ext 7211 North Park Ave. Cortland, OH 44410, on Thursday June 2, 2016 at 11:30AM. Friends and relatives can visit prior to the service, from 10-11:30AM at the church. Burial will take place at Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wildare United Methodist Church or the Leavittsburgh First church of God.
