John T. Gillespie

John T. Gillespie, "Jack", age 91 of Youngstown, Ohio, died on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:45 AM at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a short illness. He was born in Youngstown, the son of the late Thomas A. and Floy Parks Gillespie. John was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, the Disabled American Veterans, and he was retired from Eagle Construction in 1986. Mr. Gillespie was an honorably discharged US Navy Veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife, the former Joan Corrigan, whom he married on April 28, 1947; two children, Larry T. Gillespie of Youngstown, and Linda Ann (Richard) Oliver of Valparaiso, IN; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Bob (Georgianne) Franklin of Canfield. Other than his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Gordon Langham, Alice Denny, Blanche Franklin, and Dorothy Franklin. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel at 12:00 PM, Monday, January 26, 2015, where Pastor Peter J. Haenftling will celebrate John's life. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44509, in John's memory.
