John Torella, 87 COLUMBIANA - Private services were held yesterday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, for John Torella, 87, who died Saturday morning at Salem Medical Center. John was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Lowellville, a son of the late Anthony and Genevieve DiDomenico Torella, and was a lifelong area resident. He attended Lowellville High School and immediately went on to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He completed his service and the Korean War started and John was then drafted into the U.S. Army. John was assembler for General Motors for 22 years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing at Pymatuning Lake. Johns life revolved around his family. He loved spending time with his family and traveling with them to Sanibel Island and Hilton Head Island. He leaves his wife, the former Florence Flo Carl, whom he married June 21, 1952; and his five children, Linda (Tom) Carey of Columbus, Cindy (Bill) Goodall of Canfield, Nancy (Paul) Holcomb of Missouri, Lisa Nell of Columbiana and John (Michelle) Torella of Hubbard. John also leaves his grandchildren, Heather, Tom, Roxanne, Taylor, James, Billy, Ethan, Eliza and Ira; and six great-grandchildren.
