John Trombitas Sr.

John Trombitas, Sr., 92, of Lordstown, passed away August 4, 2014 at the Community Skilled Nursing Center. John was born January 30, 1922 in Salem, OH, son of George and Paraschiva (Ziga) Trombitas. John graduated from Canfield High School in 1941. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp, who later retired as a Sales Representative from General Mills after 34 years and Avis after 19 years. John was a church council member of the Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church, a past office holder of the Beclean Society. In the Lordstown community he was a member of the Zoning Board and a school board member and treasurer of the committee to incorporate Lordstown Village. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Maier) Moyer; two sons, Major General Simeon G. Trombitas, USA, his wife Kellie Snyder Trombitas and their sons Paul and Simeon; CW04 (Ret.) John Trombitas, Jr. USCG, his wife Mary and their daughters Amy Johnson, Erin Ludwig, her husband Michael Ludwig and their daughter Aislyn. John is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers George and Charles. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 PM with a 6 PM Saracusta Service at the Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church 1836 North Rd. NE, Warren, OH, where the service will be held at 10 AM Monday. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
