John William Hoover

John W. "Bill" Hoover, of New York City formerly of Warren and El Paso, TX, died 5:30 PM Wednesday Dec.17, 2008 following a brief illness. Bill was born Oct.11, 1935 in Freedom, PA the son of Ross H. and Marie (Ashbaugh) Hoover. A Warren resident for most of his life, he also lived in El Paso and most recently New York City for the past 5 years. He was a 1954 graduate of New Castle High School and attended Kent State University. Bill's career as an engineer spanned 47 years and took him all over the world. Beginning at Wean United, he went onto become President of Glowe-Hoover Industries retiring in 2001. Bill formerly attended the Grace United Methodist Church of Warren, was a member of Silver Trowel Masonic Lodge #776, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a talented sketch artist and enjoyed riding motorcycles, golf, traveling the world, and especially loved his dogs Lady and Buddy. He is survived by his wife Rosalind (Ho) Hoover whom he married Dec.26, 1981, 2 sons William Ross Hoover of El Paso, John Eric Hoover of El Paso, TX, 2 daughters Wendy Leigh (William) Sudimack of El Paso, Sherry Lynn Simms of Niles, 5 grandchildren, T.J. Simms, Daniel Sudimack, Michael Simms, Rachel Sudimack, Cody Simms, 2 great grandchildren A.J. and Gavin Simms. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a beloved son Michael Scott Hoover, 3 brothers Ross, Robert, and Richard, 3 sisters Evelyn, Helen, and Irene, and a son-in-law Joseph Simms. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday Dec.22, 2008 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 6-8 PM Sunday and for 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. Glenn Hamilton will officiate. Silver Trowel Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services Sunday evening. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
