Jordan David Bartholomew

April 22, 1984 — January 21, 2017

Jordan David Bartholomew, 32, drowned on January 21, 2017 while surfing in Buxton, NC on the Outer Banks. He was born on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984 in Warren, Ohio the son of Marlin and Johanne (Mrus) Bartholomew. Jordan graduated from Howland High School in 2003 and received his Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Youngstown State University in 2009. He also attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Jordan was always drawn to the ocean and permanently moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2009. He was employed with the Dare County School District and worked with autistic and special needs children. But, due to ongoing health issues (Crohn's Disease, Epilepsy, Asperger's, Depression) he was unable to continue working. He was a prime example of staying true through the struggle and being a self-less giver of love to all he encountered. He never had a problem just straight up telling a stranger that they were beautiful or giving random people compliments that secretly made their day. God gave him a special gift with reaching out to children, especially those with special needs. Most of all, he loved to make and see people laugh. Jordan loved adventure and was never afraid to try anything new. He became an accomplished surfer. He loved the ocean, photography, music, nature, and playing the guitar and harmonica. His zest to live life to the fullest was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. His strength and perseverance helped him in telling others about Jesus Christ. Jordan will be sadly missed by his parents; sister, Jennifer (Douglas) Dadisman; brother, Jared (Ashley) Bartholomew; nephew, Zechariah Dadisman; nieces, Gabrielle and Isabella Dadisman; uncles and aunts, Allan (Janice) Bartholomew, James and Marilyn Marshall, Dennis (Judy) Bartholomew, Jon Mrus, and Tatiana Jarosova-Mrus; God daughter, Ella Bartholomew; Maryann Fontanarosa who was his second mother, and numerous cousins. He will also be deeply missed by his special angel. Jordan was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua; paternal grandparents, Warren and Julia Bartholomew; maternal grandparents, John and Anne Mrus; uncle, James Mrus and a cousin, Susan Mrus Dolgae. A celebration of Jordan's life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at North Mar Church, 3855 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio, at 12:00 PM with Pastor Paul Armitage and Greg Marshall officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church and on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, Ohio, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A paddle out memorial service is tentatively scheduled on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Hatteras National Seashore. See Facebook or contact the family for more details closer to the scheduled date. In lieu of flowers, material contributions can be made to Dare County Social Services Adult Fund, 107 Exeter Street, P.O. Box 669, Manteo, NC, 27954 or Outer Banks Surfing for Autism, P.O.
