A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11AM Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman for Jorge A. Viana, 81, who died late Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. He was born June 10, 1927 in Tucuman, Argentina, a son of Jorge and Elvira Viana and he came to the U.S. in 1968. He worked for many years for the Wean United Corp. Most recently he worked as an Architectural Engineer for Glowe-Smith Co. in Howland until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman. He was also a member of the French Club in Youngstown, the Ohio Cultural Alliance, and he was a long time active member of the Austintown Rotary. He loved classical music and photography, and he enjoyed working on computers. He is survived by his wife, the former Norma (Enrico), whom he married March 3, 1958. He also leaves a son Sergio (Lesli) Viana of League City, Texas; two daughters, Marcia (Tom) DeAscentis of Boardman, and Cecilia (Don) Dempsey of Boardman; a brother Alfredo Viana and a sister Elvira Enrico, both of Argentina; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gustavo Viana, and a sister Maria Viana. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11am Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509 New York, NY, 10018 or www.pdf.org.
