On Wednesday, November 3, 2010, Joseph A. Ochs, 79, of Boardman, passed away with his loving family by his side. Affectionately known as "Papa Joey", he was born August 25, 1931, in Lucinda, Pa., the son of the late Ambrose and Nora (Wolbert) Ochs. A graduate of St.Vincent Latrobe Monastery, Papa Joey was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was employed at the J.C. Penney Co. for 40 years, retiring as district manager in 1988. Papa Joey was member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was a man of Faith who was devoted to his family and enjoyed the time he shared with each of them and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his former wife, Geri Dobrich and their children Diane (Mark) Graham of Canfield, David (Patricia) Ochs of Fowlerville, Mi., Dwayne (Helen) Ochs of Destin, Fl. and Debra (Matthew) Friend of Commerce Lake, Mi.; nine grandchildren Joel, Jordan, Tessa, Tricia, Damian, Kevin, JoAnna, Sarah and Nathan and two great grandchildren, Peyton and Mikeighla. Papa Joey also leaves behind three sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Edith) Anderson of Indiana, Pa., Mrs. Charles (Jeanette) Moos, of Iola, WI. and Mrs. Thomas (Jackie) Zacherl of Sligo, Pa. and one brother Paul Ochs of Wickenburg, Arizona. A Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Shaun Conoboy officiating will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, Ohio, 44512 where family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. in the Narthax of the church. A Committal Service for Papa Joey will take place on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lucinda, Pennsylvania with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church by way of Mass cards in honor of Joseph A. Ochs.
