Joseph A. Mocella, age 73 of Warren, died at 12:03 a.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born July 26, 1941 in Warren, the son of the late Angelo A. and Beatrice A. Sellars Mocella. He had been a lifetime Warren resident. Maria Pyknie Mocella, age 73 of Warren, died at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born August 30, 1941 in Chios, Greece, the daughter of Helen Sotirakis Pyknie of Warren and the late George Pyknie. She came to the United States with her parents when she was seven years old. Joseph and Maria both were 1959 graduates of Warren G. Harding High School, where they were high school sweethearts. Joe retired from the City of Warren wastewater treatment plant, where he worked as an operator. He previously worked for over 20 years at Van Huffel Sheet and Tube in Warren. Maria retired after over 20 years service as a tow motor driver at Delphi Packard Electric. Joe and Mary were members of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. They were married November 4, 1961 and besides being devoted to each other, they were both devoted to their children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. Mary was a cancer survivor and was active with her family with the Warren Relay for Life, where she walked the "survivor's lap". She kept up with her family's current events on Facebook and introduced her children to the social network. She enjoyed family card parties, fishing and camping with her husband and loved watching T.V. crime dramas. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, son and grandchildren; camping, golfing and family gatherings. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He and Maria both loved their dog, Lucky. They are survived by three daughters, Elaine M. (Paul) Mandalakas, Angie (Nick) Bellas and Michele (Kevin) Mocella-Merten; one son, Joseph J. (Kimberly) Mocella; Maria's mother, Helen Pyknie of Warren; 11 grandchildren, Nickolas (Alyssa), Lambrine (Brandon), Maria, Michael (Marissa) Justin (John), Nicole (Shayne), Myriah, Avrielle, Jordan (Jake), Zoie and Jessica (Josh); one great granddaughter, Gabriella and their god daughter, Sophia; Joe's brothers, Anthony (Gloria) and Robert (Sandy) Mocella; Maria's sister, Kitsa (Leo) Galieno and many nieces and nephews. One brother, Tommy Mocella preceded them in death. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the Trisagion service will be held at 5:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren.
