Joseph Bartolin

December 13, 1921 — October 7, 2007

Joseph “G-Man” Bartolin of Masury, OH, died on Sunday (10-07-2007) at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio. He was 85. Mr. Bartolin was born in Farrell, PA on December 13, 1921, a son of Joseph and Rose (Sokol) Bartolin. Joseph served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Normandy, Rhineland, and Ardennes Campaigns. His decorations and citations include: the American Theater Ribbon, European-American Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, and Good Conduct Ribbon. After returning from the war he married the former Mary Jane Durisko whom he married on August 16, 1947. Mr. Bartolin went on to work for National Castings retiring in 1985 after 44 years as a Grinder. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Masury, OH; member of the former VFW Post #8860, Masury; a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.; and a founding member Olympic Neighborhood Club. In his free time he enjoyed going fishing, bowling, gardening, baseball and talking politics. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Susan Zagorec of Masury, OH; two sisters, Helen Abbott of Chino Valley, AZ, Rose Johnson of Everett, WA; two grandsons, Joseph (Karen) Zagorec and Jon (Liz) Zagorec; and one great-granddaughter Annie Zagorec. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife who preceded him on December 11, 1997; by his brother Rudy Bartolin; and by his sister, Mary Romanosky. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with Rev. John Lody, Pastor. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions can be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
