Joseph Philip Yasnowski

June 4, 1926 — July 19, 2009

Joseph P. Yasnowski of South Pymatuning Twp., PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 19, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old. Mr. Yasnowski was born June 4, 1926 in Slickville, PA a son of the late Philip & Josephine (Michaluk) Yasnowsky. He married the former Pauline Zdelar of Brookfield, OH on October 02, 1954 in Youngstown, OH and together they would share fifty-four years of marriage. As a child, Mr. Yasnowski attended Lone Star Schoolhouse in South Pymatuning. He was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, Youngstown, Ohio. He was dedicated to his church and was supportive of its many activities most notably the pyrohi project. He was a member of the former Ukrainian National Association and the Providence Association of Ukrainian Catholics of America. Mr. Yasnowski was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and also supported and enjoyed the music and culture of other Eastern European Nationalities. He especially enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music. Joseph was a dedicated and hard worker throughout his life even as a young boy starting out working on his family farm. His love of farming would carry on throughout his life on his farm in South Pymatuning, PA. Joseph also had worked for Shenango Furnace in Sharpsville, PA before going to work at Sharon Steel Corporation where he would work in the Coating and Slitting Departments for more than forty-one years before retiring in 1988. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He was a loving, devoted, and unselfish husband, father and grandfather who always put his family and faith before himself. Mr. Yasnowski is survived by his wife Pauline; and by his seven sons Frank (Lucy) Yasnowski of Solon, OH, Fred (Lillian) Yasnowski of Lordstown, OH, Dan (Juliana) Yasnowski of Hermitage, PA, Mike Yasnowski of Dublin, OH, Tom (Kelly) Yasnowski of Camp Hill, PA, Joe (Sarah) Yasnowski of Westerville, OH, and John (Bernice) Yasnowski of Summit, NJ; by his two daughters Julia (Tom) Wike of Brookfield, OH and Pam (John) Celeste of Bellevue, PA; and by his seventeen grandchildren Frank, Melissa, Paul, Nicole, Ronald, Mary, Tommy, Payton, Alec, Lexa, Carrie, Amy, Molly, Ben, Jacob, Jared, and Rachel. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Yasnowsky; and by his two sisters Julia Yasnowsky and Mary Jeglinski. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 22, 2009 at Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road, Brookfield, Ohio from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, where a Panachida Service will be recited at 7:00 PM. Closing prayers of the Parastas Service will be recited at 9:15AM on Thursday July 23, 2009 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Liturgy beginning at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 West Rayen Avenue Youngstown, OH with Father Steven Zarichny officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hermitage, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care 740 E.
